No One Is Forgotten

Timeline
On January 18th, the day when the siege of Leningrad was lifted, we commemorate our colleagues, students and alumni who gave their lives for our city. Their names were immortalised on the stele in our Memorial garden square.
One of the names is Jacob Rabkin, a 1942 LIIZT (former name of the university) alumnus who died fighting near Vyborg in 1944. Several months ago, his nephew Y.M. Leibman discovered that there was a mistake in his uncle’s surname on the stele and asked the university’s administration to correct it.
The archive files were seen through, the mistake was rectified; thus, the historical truth was restored.
