PGUPS Has Had a Number of Business Meetings in Ho Chi Minh City

On November 7th, 2016 the delegation of PGUPS represented by Rector Alexander Panychev and Head of the Department of Informatisation Mark Polyanichko visited Ho Chi Minh City’s affiliate of Hanoi’s University of Transport and Communications (UTC).

Ho Chi Minh City’s affiliate of Hanoi’s University of Transport and Communications is a State Educational Organisation, which was established in 1988 by The Ministry of Transport. The university realises educational programmes of transport branches of different levels including postgraduate levels.

The delegation was welcomed by the affiliate’s Rector Ngo Chau Phuong, Vice-Rector Nguyen Van Hung and other members of the Administration. The presentation made by Mr. Panychev sparked avid interest among UTC’s members. It’s noteworthy that the representatives of UTC had carefully seen through the information about PGUPS given on its website which was very surprising for the visitors. This led to a very pithy and interesting conversation on specific issues that is the affiliate interested in.

During the meeting the sides held a round of talks on providing the Metro of Ho Chi Minh City with highly qualified staff, PGUPS’s participating in design and modernisation of its lines, researches on construction materials, establishing joint scientific centres, training staff of highest level, etc.

The same day the delegation met with the Administration of the Metro of Ho Chi Minh City and discussed possible areas of cooperation.

Ho Chi Minh City Metro was established in 2001as part of a transport network aimed at meeting an increasing demand in urban public traffic caused by severe traffic congestion problems. Most of the network is currently in the planning stages and waiting for the funds to become available.

According to the approved plan, there will be operated six metro lines with a total length of 107 kilometres. The plan envisages launching three monorail lines with a total length of 37 kilometres.

Vietnam is actively attracting other countries for design and construction of its metro lines. PGUPS has a large experience in metro construction as well in implementation of automation and telemechanics’ systems. The Administration of Ho Chi Minh City Metro expressed hope for the Russian university’s participating in Vietnam’s underground transport development, staff qualification upgrade and staff training.
