On October 20^th, 2017 within the International Symposium ELTRANS-2017, Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University held round-table discussions on training staff for electrified railway transport.

The discussions of issues connected with the topic of the round-table were attended by scientists and heads of structural divisions of PGUPS and representatives of a number of transport educational institutions of the country - Russian University of Transport, Rostov State Transport University and Far Eastern State Transport University, October Railway, «Transelectroproject». The Chairperson of the discussions was the Head of the Department Electric Power Supply on the Railway Dr. Aleksandr Marikin.

During the round-table the topical issues connected with providing transport enterprises with qualified specialists in railway electrification were dwelt upon. Besides, basic challenges of training were highlighted. Representatives of transport universities and enterprises have unanimously spoken out about necessity of strengthening ties between educational and production processes for the sake of efficient development of railway electrification. The participants have maintained that young qualified specialists fully corresponding to demands of transport enterprises are the cornerstone of these transport enterprises’ success.

Rounding up the discussions, the participants gave suggestions and recommendations on further development of hiring policies in this important branch.
