On July 6, 2016, the 11^th International Conference «Rolling Stock of the 21^st Century (Ideas, Requirements, Projects)» started in Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University.

The plenary meeting was opened by a speech of the Acting Rector of PGUPS Tamila Titova. The conference is held under support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Transport, Non-commercial Partnership «Association of Railway Car Builders», Research and Innovation center «Railway Cars», and All-Russia Research Center of Transport Technologies.

The objective of the conference is to discuss new ideas and technical solutions for railway rolling stock production and facilities with respect to the following issues:

• Freight rolling stock (design, testing, repair, and maintenance);
• Passenger rolling stock (design, testing, repair, and maintenance);
• Dynamics, strength and reliability of railway rolling stock;
• General issues, transport politics and economics.
