Our university has this deep-rooted tradition: on the day of establishment of the university, its representatives lay wreaths at the memorial to the organiser and the first rector of the Institute of the Transport Engineers Corps Agustin de Betancourt as well as at his grave in Saint Alexander Nevsky Lavra.

On December 4^th, 2017 the delegation of employees and students of Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University commemorated the Russian Spaniard by laying flowers at his grave.
