PGUPS International Activity

One of the strategic aims of the University is its integration as an equal partner into the world’s educational space, providing its graduates’ competitiveness in the global education and labor market. Therefore, the PSTU cooperation with international organizations, companies and foreign educational institutions is one of the priority and prospective lines of activities.

The PSTU international activities coordination and progress are carried out by International relations department. The main lines of activity within the framework of the international cooperation:

  1. Training of foreign citizens;
  2. Organization of the Preparatory department programs and Russian language courses;
  3. Coordination of the University’s participation in international scientific and academic projects.

Since its foundation in 1809, Institute of Transport Engineer Corps has been an international higher school. In the early years, the teaching was in French only, leading French and Spanish scientists of that time worked with the Institute. PSTU carried on and developed these traditions, creating scientific schools of the international level. Nowadays, students from over 30 countries study and take in-depth training at PSTU. Foreign specialists, who were awarded this higher school diploma, set up a brilliant reputation both to the University and Russian higher education. Owing to them, a PSTU diploma became an evidence of high quality of education for our colleagues abroad.

The PSTU participation at international scientific and academic programmes and projects:

  • Tempus Project “Environment protection management (Ecological management) for Russia and Ukraine”. Participants on the part of PSTU: Department of Industrial and Urban Transport (Dudkin E.P.); Department of Environmental engineering (Panin A.V.). Purpose of the project: to draw a syllabus for training teachers in the sphere of ecological management.
  • Tempus Project “Expansion of the Russian higher schools cooperation on the ground of the distance learning (e-learning) implementation to retrain teachers in the sphere of ecological management. Participant on the part of PSTU: Department of Industrial and Urban Transport (Dudkin E.P.). Purpose of the project: to improve the Russia’s institutes with transport industry enterprises in respect of training, further education and retraining of specialists on the ground of distance learning.
  • Project: “Euro-Asian logistics and transport cyber university”. Participant on the part of PSTU: Department of Industrial and Urban Transport (Dudkin E.P.).
  • LOGNET Project. Participant on the part of PSTU: Faculty of Railway Operation. Purpose of the project: to optimize the supply chain; to organize refresher courses in the field of logistics.
  • Project: Study and construction of Aleppo-Latakia railway and 9 tunnels, Syrian Railways. Participants on the part of PSTU: Department of Railway Track (Blazhko L.S.) – railway construction; Department of Tunnels (Ledyaev A.P.) – tunnels study and construction.
  • Agreement with Siemens company on joint researches. Participant on the part of PSTU: Department of Railway Supply.
  • “First” Programme. Programme of cooperation with the Finnish higher schools. Annualy, 3 to 5 students come to Finland to write a diploma thesis or to study during the first semester.
  • “Baltic management studies” Programme. Participant on the part of PSTU: Faculty of Economics and Social Management. Purpose: Bachelor’s degree dual diploma in management programme, with Stralsund University of Applied Sciences (Germany).
  • Bachelor’s degree dual diploma in civil engineering programme, with Saimaa University of Applied Sciences (Finland).
  • Agreement on cooperation with DB International (German Railways) and pre-diploma practice of the fifth-year students at the DB International units in Germany. In 2009, 11 persons took part in the Project.
  • Exchange Programme with Durham University. Participant on the part of PSTU: Faculty of Foreign Languages.
  • Contract for research and facilities inspection with South Caucasus Railways. Participant on the part of PSTU: Department of location survey and railway design
  • Contract for research and maintenance at the Baikonur cosmodrome (Kazakhstan). Participants on the part of PSTU: Department of railway automatics, telecontrol and telecommunications, and Department of location survey and railway design.
  • Summer School organized together with Emory University (USA).
  • Bachelors’ training joint programme, with Zhengzhou Railway Vocational and Technical Institute (People’s Republic of China).
  • Association agreements contemplating students’ training and internship with the Universities:

  • Wismar University of Applied Sciences (Germany)
  • Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences (Finland)
  • Häme University of Applied Sciences (Finland)

  • Saimaa University of Applied Sciences (Finland)
  • Todor Kableshkov Higher School of Transport (Bulgaria)
