Petersburg State Transport University

General management of the University is carried out by an elective representative body – Scientific council headed by Rector. The Scientific council’s term of office is 5 years.

The Scientific council defines the main lines of PSTU development; decides the issues of adoption and modification of PSTU structure; makes decisions on social and economic issues, remuneration of labour and business activity that cover the PSTU terms of reference, etc.

         Decisions of the University’s Scientific council are taken by open ballot, a simple majority vote, but when a competitive selection for a professor and teaching staff vacancy to be filled takes place, and recommendations for awarding academic degrees are to be given, and also when deans of department are to be elected and honorary degrees are to be awarded, then by a duly secret ballot.

          The University’s Scientific secretary is entrusted with the technical support for the University’s Scientific council and organization of its work.
