The Department of the Russian Language, PSTU, carries out its work along several lines:
- teaching Russian as a foreign language (initial phase, basic phase, intensive course of Russian as a foreign language);
- teaching Russian to applicants;
- teaching Russian and speech culture to full-time, part-time and correspondence students;
- state testing of foreign citizens and persons aspiring to be admitted to the RF citizenship.
Students of the preparatory and principal stages get their classes at the Department premises.
During the first year of training (preparatory department), foreign students acquire basic knowledge in the field of phonetics, learn the lexical minimum that enables them to talk everyday, social and cultural topics, listen to the lectures delivered and take part in seminars in the learning process in this or any other higher learning institutions in Russia.
The subsequent learning program stipulates the development of spoken and written language, audition and reading according to the requirements of the certification levels 1 and 2. In the course of learning, students expand their knowledge of scientific, social and cultural, and social and political subject matters, learn the public speaking specifics, and report preparation.
State testing
The Testing Center, being a structural element of the Russian State system of testing foreign citizens in Russian, provides for the preparation and realization of the state certification testing of foreign citizens in Russian along two lines:
- testing of foreign citizens to identify the level of their proficiency in real life Russian;
- testing in Russian as a foreign language of foreign citizens and stateless persons aspiring to be admitted to the RF citizenship.
The foreign citizens testing is carried out according to the state system adopted in Russia, which stipulates the institution of four certification levels for proficiency in Russian as a foreign language.
In order to prepare for the testing, it is possible to get individual and group tutorials, and study at the preparatory courses.
