The Meeting of the Scientific Council: Vice-Rector for Economy and IT and Dean of the Faculty «Transport Construction» Presented their Reports

On May 26, 2016, a meeting of the Scientific Council of Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University was held. Important reports were presented by Vice-Rector for Economy and IT Nikolay S. Slavin and Dean of the Faculty «Transport construction» Nikolay S. Bushuev.

Nikolay S. Slavin reported on the implementation in 2015 of the Program of the PGUPS development in 2015-2018 years. Vice-Rector noted that the economic environment in 2015 became more complex as compared to the year 2014. However, the rate of growth of non-budget revenues exceeded the rate of growth of budgetary financing. The University managed to achieve positive financial results. The endowment fund started its work, but the first income will be received only in the current year. In accordance with the «road map» of the University the main criterion — the ratio of the average salary of the academic teaching stuff to the average salary in the region — was reached. The growth of average monthly salary of employees was 7.6%.

Despite the implementation of the plan for the consolidated revenues of the University complex, there has been a significant decline in revenues from activities in the areas of transport security, distance learning, advanced training and re-training, targeted training of students in recent years. «The situation is difficult, and we will have a lot of work to do in 2016», — said Nikolay S. Slavin.

Dean Nikolay S. Bushuev reported on the work of the Faculty «Transport Construction» in 2015. The faculty has 147 professors and lecturers, including 20 doctors and professors, 86 candidates of sciences and associate professors. Academic achievement corresponds to the average for the University.

The amount of contractual research projects corresponds to the planned targets. International scientific and technical activities, in particular in the framework of the European Union TEMPUS program, are actively conducted. The Faculty has successfully trained 69 foreign students, as well as two masters and two graduate students.

At the same time, a number of aspects of the work of the Faculty and its Departments deserve criticism, which will certainly be taken into account. Human resource development, employment of graduates, search for new business partners, implementation of distance learning, etc. are the priorities in the work of the Faculty for 2016.
