Prior to St.Petersburg International Economic Forum, which started on June 16^th in our city, the Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation Pankaj Saran met the Rector of Emperor Alexander I St.Petersburg State Transport University Alexander Panychev.

At the meeting, various issues were discussed, such as training specialists for the Indian railways, collaboration in science and research as well as establishment of a railway transport university in India. The Rector presented to Mr Ambassador the interim results of joint work with the Ministry of Railways of India that were reached in spring during the visit of the PGUPS delegation to the country. Mr Saran placed an emphasis on the significance of scientific and academic exchange for India, whose railways are rapidly developing. It is especially important for high-speed and heavy freight railway traffic.

In April 2016 the PGUPS delegation headed by Rector Alexander Panychev visited Delhi, Mumbai and Pune (India) and built good rapport with the Ministry of Railways of India, Indian Railway Institute of Civil Engineering (Pune), Indian Institute of Technology (Delhi), etc. At the moment the PGUPS is getting ready for organizing advanced training course for the Indian railway staff.
