On October 9, 2019, the grand opening of the tenth International Symposium ELTRANS 10.0 took place in the assembly hall of the Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University.

University rector A.Yu. Panychev welcomed the participants of the symposium and wished them fruitful work and success in the achieving their goals.

The Head of the Technical Policy Department of Russian Railways, a graduate of LIIZhT V.E. Andreev, First Deputy Director of Transenergo — branch of JSC Russian Railways V.G. Losev, General Director of «NIIEFA-ENERGO» LLC A.M. Tyurikov, Deputy Head of the Traction Directorate — branch of JSC Russian Railways N.L. Mikhalchuk, Deputy Chief Engineer of «Universal — Contact Networks» JSC E.V. Kudryashov, head of the Scientific and Educational Center of the Innovative Development of Passenger Rail Transport, Professor PGUPS A.A. Zaitsev and others attended and made their presentations.

During the first day of the event, were discussed such topics as automatic control of electricс multiple units, development of railway power supply, double current mobile traction substations, catenaries for speed and high-speed movement and improving of the energy efficiency of the locomotive complex. Universidad Politécnica de Madrid showed a presentation «Electrical simulation tool for system definition and railway operation».

Within the framework of the symposium, round tables «Northern Latitudinal Railway — Tasks, Development Prospects» (Chairperson: V.F. Tanaev, Head of the Northern Railway — branch of JSC Russian Railways) and «Improving the energy efficiency of train driving technology, traction energy systems and organization of train traffic» (Chairman: E.N. Shkolnikov, Deputy Head of the Department of Economics, JSC Russian Railways) were held.
