The PGUPS Delegation Visited China

On May 12-17, 2016 a delegation of Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University made a visit to China. The delegation was headed by Vice-Rector for Research Tamila S. Titova and Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Public Relations Igor P. Kiselev, the delegation also included Head of IT Department Mark A. Polyanichko and Deputy Head of Academic Affairs Department Victoria A. Chernayeva. Representatives of the PGUPS visited a number of transport universities and institutes of China, conducted negotiations with theirs heads, discussed future development of networking, as well as took part in some events.

On May 12-13, 2016 a visit to Xi’an Railway Institute located in Shanxi Province took place. The Institute signed an association agreement with our University in 2014; it provides cooperation in the field of joint training of railway transport staff. During the negotiations, the results of joint work and details of the implementation of abovementioned agreement were announced.

On May 13, 2016 the PGUPS delegation took part in the International Forum on Cooperation in the field of education «One Belt — One Way» within the framework of the project «New Silk Road», implemented by the PRC together with a number of countries. Vice-Rector Igor P. Kiselev on behalf of Rector Alexander Y. Panychev signed a tripartite Memorandum of Xi’an Railway Institute, Corporation «Eurasia» and the PGUPS on the development of academic exchanges between universities within the framework of «One Belt — One Way» strategy of the «New Silk Road».

On May 15, 2016 the delegation of our University participated in the International Forum «The Future of Universities in the Digital Age», held at the Southwest Transport University in the city of Chengdu. Vice-Rector for Research Tamila S. Titova made a presentation entitled «International Cooperation of Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University with Transport Universities of China». As a result of negotiations with leaders of the Southwest Transport University and other Chinese transport universities an issue of establishment of the High-Speed Railway Institute (on the PGUPS basis) was raised.

Our delegation also participated in the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the Southwest Transport University — one of the largest technical universities of China, engaged in research and education in the fields of transport and transport construction, including the most recent and promising types: high-speed railway and magnetic levitation transport. The celebration was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education of China, central and local authorities and rectors of several dozens of transport universities and institutes of China.
