On February 8, 2016, a solemn meeting devoted to the Day of Russian Science was held at Petersburg State Transport University. Rector Alexander Y. Panychev, Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Igor N. Albin, Head of October Railway Vladimir N. Goloskokov, Chairman of the Committee on Science and Higher Education Andrey S. Maximov, CEO of “Lengiprotrans” Dmitry V. Golubovskiy congratulated the staff of the PSTU.

In his welcoming speech Rector Alexander Y. Panychev summarized the results of the University research activities over the past year. According to him, the University is among the leading research and academic institutions. “It is obvious that our science is now playing a leading role not only in the development of Russia, but also in strengthening the security of the country”, - said Rector.

On behalf of the Governor of St. Petersburg Vice-Governor Igor N. Albin visited the University this day. He said: “Petersburg State Transport University is characterized by high level of science and modern training. The PSTU always had a special significance for our city. The future of St. Petersburg is connected with it”.

A report on the joint activities of the University and JSC “Russian Railways” was made by Head of the October Railway and the PSTU graduate Vladimir N. Goloskokov. According to him, joint projects of the Company and the University, including development of a transport hub in Ust-Luga, support of student groups, student science and targeted training, allow to train highly skilled professionals. “The University is at the forefront not only of transport high schools, but all universities in Russia”, - said Vladimir N. Goloskokov.
