This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Sochi Olympic Games. A significant contribution to the organization of transportation of guests and participants of the Olympics was made by members of the PGUPS «St. Petersburg Lastochka* — 2014» student team.

On March 22, 2024, in the Southern High-Speed Rail Directorate at the Olympic Park in Sochi, events dedicated to the 10th anniversary of this legendary student team were held. The festive event was attended by participants from various Directorates and structures of «Russian Railways» all over Russia.

Students team «St. Petersburg Lastochka −2014» worked on the railways of the Olympic Sochi. Team was created on the base of the «Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University» (PGUPS) and the Electric Power Traction department.

The project «St. Petersburg Lastochka −2014» was launched in December 2012 in cooperation with the High-Speed Rail Directorate, a branch of Russian Railways. It took 2 years to complete the team and to prepare highly qualified personnel.

About 5 million people have been transported to Sochi during the work of this student’s team.

*Lastochka in Russian means «swallow».
