XXII International Congress «Energy Efficiency. XXI century. Architecture. Engineering. Digitalisation. Ecology. Self-regulation» took place on 16 November 2023 in St. Petersburg. As part of the forum, more than 500 participants discussed the issues of digitalisation of the design and construction industry, ecology, implementation of the latest technologies in engineering systems of buildings and structures.

PGUPS was represented by Pavel A. Pegin, Head of the Department of the Structural Constructions, Buildings, Structures. He shared that the digital transformation of PGUPS is taking place as part of the Priority 2030 programme. This made possible to create a Digital Department in 2022 and introduce the laboratory «Internet of Things» (Industrial Internet) into the educational process.

Pavel Anatolievich noted that the task of the university’s digital transformation is to «immerse» students in digital technologies, to obtain the skills of using digital technologies and information modelling technologies as a source of professional information and competence. From the first year for future designers and builders, classes are held in computer laboratories using specialized software products and digital equipment. Students can get additional information through offline or online resources: the portal of the Distance Learning Portal or specialized websites on the Internet and social networks.

Course projects and graduation qualification works are carried out by the students of the department according to the requirements of information modelling technologies (calculation of structures and volumetric layout of buildings, digital twins of constructions, life cycle of an object, etc.).

As a reminder, the digital transformation of higher education institutions by 2030 involves training specialists capable of conducting predictive data analytics and integrating alternatives and evaluating scenario solutions.
