Delegation of PGUPS Visits China

Extending cooperation with Chinese transport universities is one of the top-issues of PGUPS’s international work. At present, nearly 200 students from China are undergoing different types of training in PGUPS. Double degree and internship programmes are being implemented as well. As part of these programmes, a group of PGUPS students are receiving education in China. In addition, a group of other students has recently returned from China where they underwent a ten days internship.

The aim of extending and keeping contacts with Chinese universities are now being fulfilled by the delegation of PGUPS in China.

On November 1st, 2016 the delegation of the University represented by its Rector Alexander Panychev and Head of the Department of Informatisation Mark Polyanichko visited Nanjing Institute of Railway Technology (NIRT) on invitation of its Rector Qian Jikui.

During the Opening ceremony of a new double degree educational programme Mr. Panychev introduced PGUPS as NIRT’s partner, gave a brief outline of the history of PGUPS, and pointed out that professors and alumni of PGUPS had always been committed into development of a modern look of Saint-Petersburg and Russia. Mr. Rector updated the Chinese side about new educational programmes being realised, underlining that PGUPS focuses on practice-oriented approach of training specialists. Furthermore, he added that while studying at the University students are given the opportunity to participate in the realisation of large-scale infrastructural projects of the country.

During the visit the sides had talks about further development of cooperation between the two institutions within the Agreement on Scientific and Educational Cooperation.

Also, there was an excursion organised by NIRT and conducted by Rector Qian Jikui. While getting to know the university the delegation was shown a museum, which occupies three floors, and visited a modern laboratory base. The laboratory has a railway section connecting two stations, adjoining in their turn common railway tracks, and a well developed range of simulators. Alexander Panychev tried the one for training engine drivers and made a virtual travel by a high-speed train simulator to the nearest station. The guests from Saint-Petersburg were also shown equipment for specialists in signaling, centralisation and blocking.
