- подготовка студентов всех факультетов ПГУПС в области науки о прочности для дальнейшего изучения предметов выпускающих кафедр;
- научно-исследовательские работы, конструирование и проектные работы в области машиностроения, промышленного и гражданского строительства;
- испытательные работы на базе Механической лаборатории им. профессора Н.А. Белелюбского;
- курсы повышения квалификации по дисциплинам прочностного цикла.
Сотрудники кафедры выполняют конструкторские и проектные работы в области машиностроения, промышленного и гражданского строительства с применением современных вычислительных средств и программного обеспечения на основе метода конечных элементов, научно-исследовательские работы в области механики деформированного твердого тела.
Специалисты кафедры принимают активное участие в обследовании зданий и сооружений, проектировании куполов, шпилей, колокольных систем не только для Санкт-Петербурга, но и других регионов России.
