The PSTU Was Visited by Thibault Furrer, the Consul General of France in St. Petersburg

In early March, Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University was visited by the Consul General of France in St. Petersburg Thibault Furrer.

Within a framework of the visit, negotiations with Rector of the University Alexander Y. Panychev and Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Public Relations Igor P. Kiselev were held. A key topic of conversation was the International Scientific and Educational Project «Heritage of Betancourt», which is implemented on the eve of the 260th anniversary of the outstanding engineer, organizer and first Rector of our University Agustin de Betancourt. Mr. Furrer expressed great interest in the Project.

Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University has long-term relationship with France. French professors and lecturers were among the first in the Institute of the Corps of Communications Engineers. The Library of the PGUPS keeps many valuable documents, original drawings and sketches of prominent French engineers and architects.

After negotiations, Mr. Furrer visited the unique Training Center for Transportation Management in the PGUPS, examined historical classrooms and laboratories, a portrait gallery. In the Scientific and Technical Library of the University, the Consul General got acquainted with the original albums, drawings, rare editions in Russian and French languages, connected with works of architect Auguste de Montferrand. The visit of the Consul General came to an end in the Central Museum of Railway Transport.
