The Department’s development concept is to form a modern system of views, scientific and methodological foundations of urban planning to support balanced, economically sound and controlled development of the Northwestern sector of the market by providing a services in the field of economics and management, economic training, investment, design, and organizational activities of enterprises and organizations. The Department offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, postgraduate programs in Economics and Management.
Bachelor’s degree in 38.03.01 «Economics», specialization «Economics of Construction Enterprises and Organizations»
The Bachelor’s program is a practice-oriented educational program to train an economist for the construction industry, which is a backbone in the economy. This is achieved as a result of internships, course projects and papers directly focused on acquiring skills to solve the most complex economic problems, including the organization of entrepreneurial and economic planning, innovation management, project efficiency assessment, automated budgeting, real estate appraisal, economic risk management, etc. The internship is organized at the leading enterprises of the Northwestern region of the Russian Federation. The educational process employs distance education technologies and professional databases, modern licensed software and estimate-analytical complexes, business games, seminars and conferences involving well-known experts and enterprises’ representatives. The program is adapted to the real sector of the economy, investment and construction. The Department’s graduates are successfully employed in investment, planning, contractual, estimate, economic and other departments and services of enterprises and organizations, in research and design organizations, in state and municipal administration bodies responsible for design, construction, and operation of buildings, structures and their complexes.
Master’s degree in 38.04.02 «Management», specialization «Project and Risk Management»
The Master’s program in Project and Risk Management is a unique educational program that has been implemented since 2014 and is directly focused on training a specialist to work with investment projects involving leading enterprises and organizations on the principles of project management, including technological and price audit of investment projects. Main advantages of studying under the Master’s program are: the professional community’s recognition of the scientific and educational school of project and risk management of the Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University; positive experience of training of masters in project management; the Department’s business contacts with potential employers and business representatives; students’ involvement in real projects, as well as additional opportunities to acquire primary professional experience during scientific and practical conferences and seminars held by the Department. Upon completion of the study, a graduate who has successfully passed the state final certification has an opportunity to pass the national certification of risk management specialists and is assisted in further employment.
Master’s degree in 38.04.01 «Economics», specialization «Enterprise Economics and Value Engineering»
The Master’s program provides in-depth training and ensures professional success of a specialist in enterprise economics, entrepreneurship and value engineering, estimate and market pricing, value management, technological and price audit of investment projects. Main advantages of studying under the Master’s program are: positive experience of masters’ training since 2014 in economics of enterprises and organizations; the Department’s profitable business contacts with potential employers and business representatives; students’ involvement in real projects, as well as additional opportunities to acquire primary professional experience; employment assistance. The nature and depth of studying under the Master’s program allow graduates to successfully work in ordering, research, design and contracting organizations, in state and municipal administration bodies.
Postgraduate degree in 38.06.01 «Economics», specialization «Economics and Management in National Economy (Construction, Transport)» — Economic sciences
Themes of dissertation research done at the Department involve solving urgent scientific problems of the economy in the face of growing risk tension and uncertainty of a number of operating factors, including the problems of integrating risk management with strategy, cost and performance, efficiency assessment of investment projects being implemented, developing a contract system in the procurement of goods and services, value engineering and real estate appraisal.
