The EcoWeek began on September 11, 2021, with PGUPS students taking part in the «Clean Coast» international campaign.

40 representatives from 1st year students and 18 representatives from the PGUPS Student Council arrived in the Kurortny district of St. Petersburg to clear the territory of garbage and test their knowledge in the field of ecology.

Participants went through an environmental educational quest to learn the types of waste and recycling methods. They later were able to apply the acquired knowledge while cleaning the coastal zone of the Gulf of Finland. As a result, 800 kilograms of garbage were collected. The participants sorted 570 kilograms for recycling: 53 kg of plastic, 202 kg of glass, 269 kg of metal, 5 kg of organic waste, 34 kg of cardboard, 7 kg of polyethylene.

Within the EcoWeek, the University launched an eco-project «Improvement of the PGUPS Geobase» and announced a paper collection drive from 13 to 16 September. On the first day, 913.3 kg of waste paper was collected.

Based on the results, the best group and faculty of the University will be announced. The proceeds will be used to improve the geological and geodetic base of PGUPS in Tolmachevo.

Everyone can join! To do this, you need to bring the waste paper to the wardrobe of Building 1 from 8:40 to 17:00.
