Memorandum on Cooperation signed by the International Union of Railways and Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University

On September 9, the Memorandum on Cooperation was signed by the International Union of Railways (UIC) and Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University (PGUPS).

Earlier, the signing was being planned during the visit of the UIC delegation to Russia, but due to the circumstances caused by the pandemic, the Memorandum was signed during a teleconference between the UIC Headquarters in Paris and PGUPS in St. Petersburg. The teleconference allowed UIC Director General François Davenne to meet PGUPS Rector Alexander Panychev.

During the conversation the issues of cooperation were discussed between the UIC and the University in the scientific and educational fields.

UIC Director General F. Davenne and PGUPS Rector A. Panychev signed the copies of the Memorandum on Cooperation, which will now be exchanged by mail.

The International Union of Railways is an international organization uniting national railway companies to solve problems in the field of railway transport development. The UIC includes over 200 railway companies from almost 100 countries. The main task of the UIC is to increase the competitiveness of railway transport as the most reliable and environmentally friendly.

The signed Memorandum will provide an opportunity for wider participation of the first transport university in Russia – PGUPS – in scientific and educational programs of the UIC, internationalization of professional training and solving specific problems in improvement of equipment and technologies of high-speed railway transport.
