On June 2, 2016, a meeting of Senior Vice-President of JSC «Russian Railways», Head of the Central Directorate for Infrastructure Gennady V. Verkhovykh with students and faculty members took place at Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University.

The meeting was opened by Vice-Rector for Pedagogical Work and Industry Relations Petr K. Rybin: «Today is a special and joyous day, because our guest is Gennady  V. Verkhovykh — our student, who graduated from the University in 1981, the man who controls very complex and important area of work — infrastructure».

The lecture was on the theme «Application of Scientific and Technical Developments in the Infrastructure Complex of JSC «Russian Railways». Gennady V. Verkhovykh noted that highly skilled young specialists of the new formation are needed to work with high-tech equipment. Every year, JSC «Russian Railways» gives employment to more than 6 thousand graduates of transport universities. The company has more than 221 thousand employees under the age of 30; it is 30% of the personnel.

Young professionals have not only a secure job, but also an opportunity for a professional career in JSC «Russian Railways». The holding implements a complex target program «Youth of Russian Railways» with the aim of involving young people in the process of increasing the production culture and solution of corporate problems in the company. One of the most ambitious projects is implemented; it is the contest «New Link», which is aimed to develop the technology initiatives of young professionals. More than 30 thousand people took part in the competition; more than 6 thousand projects from different universities were registered. Participating in the competition is an opportunity for students to present their projects to the company managers and to put into practice the experience gained during work.

The short presentation film «Infrastructure Complex of JSC «Russian Railways»: Results of 2015» was shown at the event. It was noted that the company has successfully cope with the tasks and implements a number of promising projects.

The Head of the October Directorate for Infrastructure Evgeny A. Shevtsov was a co-speaker. He spoke about the implementation of high-speed mobile tools that can diagnose the infrastructure at speeds up to 200 km/h. This system allows seeing in the real time whether the fault exists.

Afterwards students and employees of Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University asked their questions.

At the end of the meeting Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Liudmila S.  Blazhko solemnly inaugurated Gennady V. Verkhovykh as a member of the PGUPS Corps of Graduates.
