Extended Meeting of the Scientific Council Was Held in the PSTU

On August 31, 2015, on the eve of the Knowledge Day, extended meeting of the Scientific Council (jointly with academic teaching staff) was held in the PSTU.

The main issue on the agenda was the report made by Rector Alexander Y. Panychev. It was dedicated to the results of the past year and challenges the University faces in the 2015/2016 academic year. Rector mentioned successful work in all areas. In spite of the demographic situation in the country, admission plan is fulfilled. Cooperation with foreign universities and companies is strengthening and developing, number of foreign students is increasing. Positive dynamics can be seen in extracurricular work: more and more students are involved in volunteer activities and carrying out various projects in the University.

Scientific activity of the PSTU is still focused on the national strategy for transport development. The University will continue to perform activities stipulated in the Development Programme for 2015-2018, strengthen positions at the international level and develop forms of educational work and corporate spirit among students, staff and graduates.

Secretary of the Admission Committee Mikhail D. Alexandrov presented a report on the results of student admission in 2015. For the first time in the PSTU, innovations were used for convenience of prospective students: pre-registration and e-queue. Consultants and receptionists of documents worked simultaneously.  Meetings with heads of faculties and departments, as well as excursions were organized for those who wished. It simplified the work of the Admission Committee and saved the time of every visitor of the PSTU. Demand for technical professions is increasing. This positive trend is supported by a significant increase of “pass” grades as compared to the previous year.

Traditionally, letters of appreciation and certificates of honour were presented to outstanding employees of the University at the meeting.
