In 2018, to maintain cooperation on the issues of transport development and transport engineering education, the Association of Rectors of BRICS Transport Universities was established. In 2018 (St. Petersburg, Russia) and in 2019 (Johannesburg, South Africa), two forums of the Association were successfully held. Based on the activity program of the Association, Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University and the Educational and Methodological Center for Education in Railway Transport established the «BRICS Transport» journal.

The journal will be published in English and is intended to cover scientific, technical, organizational, economic, environmental, legal problems and prospects for the development of the BRICS countries’ transport complex; talk about successful practices of international cooperation in transport field and cooperation with global transport systems, as well as professional education in the transport industry.

The thematic sections were defined as followed:

1. Transport ecosystem: society, state, and global challenges;
2. Urban studies, transport and logistics technologies;
3. Vehicles and rolling stock;
4. Transport infrastructure;
5. Advanced engineering training for the Economy 4.0.;
6. Smart transport and intelligent systems for the Industry 4.0;
7. Economics of international transport and logistics: smart and digital solutions and practices.

On the journal’s website www.bricstransport.ru, the goals and objectives of the journal are introduced, as well as planned sections, the procedure for preparing materials for publication, and other information.

Currently, the first issue of «BRICS Transport» journal is almost complete.
