24.01.2017
Student life Timeline

On January 27th, on the day of Full liberation of Leningrad from fascists our city hosts a series of festive and mourning venues everyone is free to visit.

The youth patriotic action «Sky over Leningrad 3.0» devoted to 74th anniversary of lifting the siege of Leningrad and 73d anniversary of Full liberation of Leningrad from fascists will be performed on the Palace Square from 3 p.m. till 6 p.m. The participants will parade down the city centre carrying white balloons and models of aerostats which were used as air defense systems in the besieged city. Arriving on the Palace Square the participants will form the figure 900 and release their balloons in the air.

At 6 p.m. in front of the Anichkov Palace (39 Nevsky prospect) the action «Candle of Remembrance» will take place. During the siege the palace hosted a military hospital. On maps of German pilots it was marked as «the target subject to bombing № 192» and suffered severe air raids. On January 27th, the walls of the palace will turn into large screens demonstrating films about the siege. Poems on the siege will also be recited. The lit candles will be carried down the symbolic «Road of Life». The ceremony will end with laying flowers to the memorial plate near «The Blockade Ice-Hole» on the Fontanka embankment.

Apart from that, in the museum flat of Alexander Blok (57 ulitsa Dekabristov) there will be organised a literature evening «Olga Bergholz — the voice of the besieged Leningrad».

The concerts devoted to this memorial date will be given at 5 p.m. in the theatre «Music Hall» (4 Alexander Park) and at 7 p.m. in the State Memorial Museum «Saint Isaac’s Cathedral» (4 Isaak’s Square).

Finally, at 7 p.m. the Rostral Columns torches will be lit with fire and at 9 p.m. the sky over the city will be ignited by the fireworks.
