The International Creativity Forum «Heritage of Betancourt» Took Place at the PGUPS

On April 20, 2016 the International Creativity Forum «Heritage of Betancourt» was held at Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University. It was dedicated to summing-up the results of the Competition of Student Creative Works. The Forum is an important stage of the International Scientific and Educational Project «Heritage of Betancourt» initiated by our University together with the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and École nationale des ponts et chaussées (Paris).

The Forum was opened with the anthem of the PGUPS performed by the Choral Ensemble «Cantus». Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Liudmila S. Blazhko greeted the audience. «This event is truly historic, — said Vice-Rector. — Our University organized and conducted a major creative and intellectual competition, which included a variety of nominations and was incorporated into the huge International Scientific and Educational Project «Heritage of Betancourt». The Forum is, in fact, not just summarizing, but also the beginning of a new stage of the International Project».

Honorary guests of the event were the Director of the State Museum-Monument «St. Isaac’s Cathedral» Nikolay V. Burov and First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Youth Policy and Interaction with NGOs of Saint-Petersburg Administration Konstantin A. Zagorodnikov.

The winners of the International Competition of Student Creative Works were awarded with diplomas and gifts. The first, second and third places in nominations «Photo», «Video», «Art» and «Essay» won students of Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University, St. Petersburg State University, Samara State Transport University, Volga State University of Water Transport, École nationale des ponts et chaussées (Paris). French students and their research supervisor addressed to the participants and guests of the Forum via video and thanked the jury for the appreciation of their work.

The festive atmosphere was created by Chamber Choir of the Smolny Cathedral invited by the Director of the Museum-Monument «St. Isaac’s Cathedral» Nikolay V. Burov, champions of St. Petersburg, winners of national and international dance competitions Vladimir Tochmin and Anastasiya Borovaya (Club of Sports Ballroom Dances «Inspiration»), as well as students of the PGUPS Alexander Kapichev and Reseda Valieva with a song about the railway.

Special guests of the University were students of St. Petersburg and Leningrad region schools. Staff and students of the PGUPS gave a tour of the laboratories and classrooms for them.
