Continuation of the working meeting of the consortium of universities of the international project ERASMUS +

On March 25-27 in Dresden on the basis of Faculty of Transport and Movement Sciences named after Friedrich Liszt of Dresden Technical University (DTU) held a regular meeting of representatives of nine universities, members of the consortium for the implementation of the international project ERASMUS + «Economy, ecology and infrastructure of high-speed rail transport.»

The consortium created for the development of the master’s program for the «double degree» program of the PGUPS and DTU, is composed of this two institutions of higher education that are principle. Other participants are from Russia — Ural State Transport University, Far Eastern State Transport University; from Kazakhstan — Academy of Transport and Communication, Eurasian National University, South Kazakhstan State University; from the European Union in addition to DTU — University of Economics, Katowice, Poland, and the Polytechnic University of Madrid that was a base of March meeting from 21to 23.

On behalf of DTU’s administration, Professor Jochen Trinkauf, Head of the Department of Automation and Remote Control on Railways of DTU, led the meeting.

Professors and teachers responsible for the implementation of the program in their educational institutions, including the Rector of Far Eastern State Transport University Davydov U.A., represented universities, the participants of the consortium.

From PGUPS, the Head of the Project Office for International Programs, Professor Kiselev I.P., Head of Quality, Licensing and Accreditation, Associate Professor Chernyaeva V.A. and officer of International Relations Department Yegoshin V.N. participated.

The purpose of the meeting and workshops in Dresden was to discuss and clarify the three years implementation plan ERASMUS + program, funded by the European Union. It is planned to create a training program for the master’s preparation in the field of high-speed rail transport. The most important issue of the meeting was the consideration, clarification and coordination of the curriculum for the master’s preparation based on network principle of training in the PGUPS and DTU. After detailed and deep discussion, the basic curriculum was adopted. This document has to be agreed by the directorship of PGUPS and DTU.

According to the proposed plan, masters will be trained at PGUPS (first, second and fourth semesters), as well as at DTU (third semester). Education in Germany will be in English. After the implementation of the pilot project in 2019-2021, the joint program of PGUPS and DTU is supposed to extend the program to other consortium universities.

A number of Russian organizations of railway transport and transport construction expressed their interest in graduates of this program. It is planned that the first admission for this program will be implemented already this year. It is required lot of work on preparation and adoption of joint documents of PGUPS and DTU for the organization of network education, revision of available teaching materials in PGUPS and DTU.
