«From High Speed Ground Transportation to the Hyperloop»

Starting April 22nd to 26th, 2019, the Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University will organize and host a course of master classes on the topic «From High Speed Ground Transportation to the Hyperloop».

Hyperloop is a new form of ground transport currently in development by a number of companies around the world, which could see passengers and freights travelling at 1200 km per hour in magnetic-levitated capsules within low-pressure tubes.

The classes are lectured by Andrea Santangelo — PhD in Civil Engineering, who has been working as a consultant in the industrial and infrastructure construction industry for over 20 years and since 2015 he is actively involved in the design development of the infrastructure system to be built around the hyperloop technology, cooperating with the most advanced hyperloop Companies, Universities and Research Facilities around the world.

This introductory course will present the principal details of the hyperloop transportation concept, starting with an overview of the actual fastest ground transportation systems and introducing then the basic technical concepts and advantages of the hyperloop technology in comparison with the actual transportation systems. The course will also give some direction on the infrastructure design and technical limitations of the main components and sub-systems. A section of the course will also cover the state-of-the-art situation of the commercial ventures that, since the launch of the hyperloop concept in 2013 by Elon Musk, flourished in many sides of the world.

The initiative to host an introductory course about the hyperloop technology makes the Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University always to be at the cutting edge for the education and the research fields of new transport technologies.
