On October 15 and 16 the delegation of our university in Cuba discussed the organization of cooperation with Cuban educational institutions for higher education.

Cooperation agreements with the University of Havana and the Technological University of Havana «José Antonio Echeverría» were signed.

Cuban scientists from both universities have shown their interest in report of A.Yu. Panychev. about the history of PGUPS, our achievements in the field of education and science, as well as suggestions on possible areas of cooperation. Rector of the University of Technology, Mr. Modesto Ricardo Gomez Garcia, and the Rector of the University of Havana, Ms. Miriam Nicado Garcia, noted the great prospects for cooperation between their universities and PGUPS.

The rectorate and deans of the faculties of the Technological University were more interested in our experience in the field of training specialists for transport industry, power engineering, water supply and drainage, informatization and transport construction. Specialists of the main university of Cuba were more interested in the applied mathematics, economics, ecology. Special attention was paid to the study of the Russian language. The PGUPS delegation was surprised by the good knowledge of Cuban colleagues about the developments and methods of teaching foreign citizens the Russian language in the first transport university of Russia.

The sides confirmed that cooperation promised to be perspective and in the near future a group of young Cubans wishing to get education in Russia. They will join the students from Cuba who already have been studying in our university.

On October 16, a meeting with the management of the Marta Abreu Central University in Las Villas (Santa Clara) was held. The Cuban colleagues were interested in the practical experience of PGUPS in the creation of electronic information space of the University, as well as in the design of bridges and tunnels. As a result of the meeting, sides reached the decision to develop a joint agreement on cooperation between universities.
