PGUPS Graduation Ceremony at St. Isaac's Cathedral

On July 6, 2022, a graduation ceremony was held at the St. Isaac’s Cathedral with the presentation of diplomas with honors.

In 2022, more than 1,800 engineers, bachelors, masters are graduating PGUPS and startin their independent professional life. The best 299 students were awarded diplomas with honors at the St. Isaac’s Cathedral.

This tradition dates back to June 2016. As part of the Betancourt Heritage project, the management of PGUPS and the St. Isaac’s Cathedral decided to arrange a festive graduation ceremony in one of the most famous and beautiful buildings in St. Petersburg.

The University and the Cathedral have common history — a contribution of the great engineer Augustine de Betancourt. The first rector of our University played an important role in designing the project of St. Isaac’s Cathedral.

Rector of PGUPS Alexander Panychev, addressing the graduates, emphasized that today is the main even of the university life. Over the past years of the pandemic, we have realized the value of live communication, and we have gathered again to congratulate our best students:

«I wish you breathtaking achievements and great projects, we will always be proud of you!»

On behalf of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, the Deputy Minister, PGUPS alumnus, Valentin Ivanov congratulated the graduates:

«I sincerely congratulate you on the successful completion of an important stage in your life, we all have to help adapt our country’s economy to new realities, taking into account your knowledge and efforts, we will achieve great results.»

Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Vladimir Knyaginin greeted the participants, congratulated the graduates, professors and teachers of the University and conveyed the best wishes from the Governor of St. Petersburg.

PGUPS graduates were awarded their diplomas by top managers of big transport enterprises.

At the end of the ceremony, twenty graduates of PGUPS — the best of the best — were awarded diplomas of the Betancourt Prize 2022 laureates — the highest achievement for any graduate of PGUPS.
