The Round Table was held at the Russian Academy of Sciences under the auspices of the Project «Heritage of Betancourt»

On April 26, 2016 the round table «Scientific and Engineering Societies of St. Petersburg: History and Modernity. The 150th Anniversary of the Russian Technical Society» took place at St. Petersburg Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The round table was held under the auspices of the Scientific-Educational Project «Heritage of Betancourt».

The event was organized by the Federal Agency of Scientific Organizations, St. Petersburg Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg Branch of the Institute for the History of Natural Sciences and Technology named after S.I. Vavilov (Russian Academy of Sciences), Emperor Alexander I Petersburg State Transport University, St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University of Peter the Great.

During the opening of the round table, Vice-Rector of the PGUPS for Academic Affairs Tamila S. Titova welcomed participants. She emphasized the importance of Agustin de Betancourt in the formation and development of Russian science: «He left a deep mark in the history of science and technology not only as a man who spearheaded the engineering and transport education in Russia. His heritage includes outstanding architectural projects and inventions, not surpassed until now and used in our days; brilliant engineering solutions remaining in the history of Russian and world science». Tamila S. Titova told about the International Scientific-Educational Project «Heritage of Betancourt» and invited the audience to join it.
